To commemorate its 30th anniversary, The Warhol proudly unveils "KAWS + Warhol," a groundbreaking exhibition delving into the shared darker themes within the artistic realms of KAWS and Warhol. From evocative depictions of skulls to jarring car crashes, both artists employ their distinctive vibrant hues and pop culture references, intertwining with the unsettling spectacle of mortality. By uniting these two creative forces for the first time, the exhibition amplifies and lays bare the obscure undercurrents present in the works of KAWS and Warhol.

Responding to Warhol's embrace of commercialism, KAWS introduces a fresh series of paintings, sculptures, and installations inspired by his recent collaboration with General Mills. This innovative venture seamlessly integrates his signature characters into the packaging of beloved American cereals such as Frankenberry, Frute Brute, Count Chocula, and Boo-Berry. These cereal-themed creations will be juxtaposed with Warhol's renowned Brillo Boxes and his lesser-known series of paintings crafted for a younger audience.

Patrick Moore, director of The Warhol and curator of the exhibition, notes, "KAWS and Warhol share numerous attributes, from their exuberant forays into commercial ventures to their relentless exploration of American culture for inspiration. What truly captivates me about both artists is their capacity to enchant viewers, particularly the younger generation, while delving into profound and somber themes. By pairing these visionaries, the museum continues its mission to keep Warhol's legacy dynamic and contemporary."

Reflecting on this collaboration, KAWS expresses humility, stating, "Warhol's audacious and unapologetic approach to art remains a wellspring of inspiration for generations. His ability to challenge conventional norms through his work is a testament to his visionary genius. As an artist, I am honored to be part of an exhibition alongside Warhol at his eponymous museum, contributing to the ever-evolving legacy of one of the greatest artistic minds of our time."

In alignment with The Warhol's latest initiative, The Pop District, KAWS contributes a monumental wooden sculpture to Pop Park, situated directly across from the museum and visible from its entrance space.

To complement the exhibition, a schedule of public programs is currently in development and will be disclosed at a later date.

Curated by Patrick Moore, director of The Warhol, "KAWS + Warhol" is poised to travel to at least two international venues, with details to be announced in due course.
